Why I created this piece

You may have heard authors say that some books “write themselves.” This painting felt like it painted itself.

It was 2012, I had dropped out of college to pursue art and writing. I was living off of a waitress salary and having fun doing it. One night, in my shag carpet apartment, where I painted on a easel in the living room with a drop cloth, I felt inspired to cover this large canvas with something beautiful. I can’t remember for certain, but it felt like this image poured out of me almost instantaneously. It felt like five minutes, though I’m sure it was much longer.

When I finished, I stepped back and looked at her. It was love at first site. She felt so complete. Who was she?

The face of the original canvas was painted using chalkboard paint. My thought was that the owner could write messages or facial expressions inside of her face whenever they felt led to. However as time as gone on, this has become one of my most-requested prints. Many people think the faceless image speaks to them more strongly. Even without chalk, they can interpret her emotions and her story however they see fit.

Keke was named after a very dear friend who immediately purchased the original. Keke and I worked together waitressing at the local Applebees.

My interpretation of it

Today, Keke is a symbol to me and many others. A symbol of internal empowerment that we women hold. She stands fiercely and boldly with beauty, grace and intuition. She’s fierce, hopeful and groovy. Or maybe you consider her to feel lost and lonely. Whatever you decide, is right.

About Intuitive Art

Intuitive art is unique in that it is always subject to change; to tell a new story or give a new piece of advice, if you will.  I believe this piece was meant for you if it speaks to you. This is for a reason.  Your intuition always knows what you most need in any given moment, even if your head is stuck in confusion.

Many of my clients find symbols, meaning and feelings within their piece long after their initial reception of it.  Be open to the colors, images and meanings that stand out at you each time you view it.

A fun thing I like to recommend  is to rotate the orientation of the canvas periodically.  There is no right side up with this painting!  Rotate and use your imagination to see new aspects of the painting from time to time.

Lastly, everything is energy.  I intentionally pour love and positive, sparkling energy into all of my paintings.  It is my hope that this painting will hold that energy and share it with you when you most need it.  It’s meant to raise your vibration and help you strengthen your own intuition.
